Our Curriculum

At Bloxham, much of our teaching is based around a thematic curriculum which is designed to inspire our pupils.  For more details on specific subjects, please click on the relevant tab or, for details on our 24/25 assessment overview, please follow the link at the bottom of this page.

At Bloxham we use a number of commercial schemes, to support a progressive coverage of the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework. We are currently refining this curriculum to include specific links to our locality which we hope will make learning relevant and even more interesting. For example, in Year 4 we study the Saxons but, did you know the name Bloxham is derived from the 6th century, when - Blocc's Ham - the home of the Blocc, was a Saxon settlement, on the site of our village today?

National Curriculum Key Stages 1 & 2

Early Years Foundation Stage Framework

Each term we  supply families with a curriculum overview including a brief summary of the learning journey for each aspect of our curriculum. This is accompanied by knowledge organisers which provide information on key concepts and vocabulary. If you would like further information about the topics being studied each term, as a first port of call, please check our parent information guides tab and if you still require further information, please contact the office team who will be happy to support.

Based on an overarching and carefully structured topic approach, our curriculum is mapped coherently and deliberately to build knowledge and skills year-on-year whilst making links between subjects and themes and reinforcing key concepts and vocabulary and ensuring full coverage of the National Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework. Entwined with this, we provide a series of supplementary experiences, our Bloxham Cultural Passport, which enhances learning and supports the cultural capital we believe will strengthen our pupils.
