At Bloxham Primary School, we follow the EYFS Framework and the National Curriculum, using our topic based approach through Cornerstones, and shaping this into our own personal sequence.

We value reading as a key life skill and are dedicated to enabling our pupils to become lifelong readers. In Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1, a systematic and rigorous approach to phonics will be applied through the delivery of the Read, Write Inc. (RWI) programme.

Please follow this link for a comprehensive guide to quality-assured books. School reading list - recommended books for children. Also attached below is a list of recommendations from the avid readers of our school community!

We inspire young writers through engagement with a rich text stimulus at the start of their Writing Journey to promote a love of writing and literature.

When they leave us, we want pupils to possess the reading skills and love of literature which will help them to enjoy and access any aspects of learning they encounter in the future.
